Pencak Silat is a martial sport originating from the Malay community whose existence must be maintained so that future generations of young people can learn it. Apart from maintaining the existence of the goal, Pencak Silat is taught to the younger generation because Pencak Silat has positive values. These values will form good personal character if applied correctly. Apart from having the values of the Pancasila philosophy in the form of ethical, technical, aesthetic and athletic values which are useful in living life, Pencak Silat has four aspects consisting of mental spiritual aspects, martial arts aspects, artistic aspects and sports aspects.

With this, regional and national level Pencak Silat competitions began to emerge, both for students and the general public. There are increasingly more Pencak Silat competitions at the international level, such as multi-event competitions at the Sea Games, Asean University Games and Asian Games as well as single event competitions at the Belgium Open and World Championships.

By holding various Pencak Silat competitions at the National and International levels, it proves that Pencak Silat is a global sport, so it is hoped that Pencak Silat can be competed in the Olympics. In supporting Pencak Silat's road to Olympic efforts, the Government has included Pencak Silat as one of the priority sports to be developed, this is reflected in the National Sports Grand Design contained in Presidential Decree Number 86 of 2021.
